Synopsis of Scenes
Act I
Athens:
Hermia (Tatiana Kolesnikova) is ordered by her father, Egeus (Tyson Powell), and Duke Theseus (Payson Purser) to marry Demetrius (Max Alejo), but she loves Lysander (Myles Henry) instead. Facing death or exile for her refusal, she and Lysander plan to elope into the forest. Her friend Helena (Tess Barfuss), who loves Demetrius, learns of their escape and follows them into the woods to pursue him. Meanwhile, a group of Athenian mechanicals—amateur actors including Bottom (Adam Bailey), Quince (Tristan Bailey), Starveling (McKayden Potter), Snout (Kambry Hall), and Flute (Autumn Biggs)—rehearse a play to perform at the Duke's wedding.
Act II
The Forest :
The fairy king Oberon (Jude Barry) quarrels with Titania (Clara Briscoe) over a changeling boy and orders his sprite Puck (Gideon Evans) to use a magical flower to control the lovers' emotions. Puck mistakenly enchants Lysander instead of Demetrius, causing him to abandon Hermia and chase Helena. When Oberon corrects the spell, both men pursue Helena, leaving Hermia heartbroken as the romantic chaos spirals deeper into the forest.
Act III
The Forest:
Puck transforms Bottom's (Adam Bailey) head into a donkey's, causing the other actors to flee. Titania, under the love spell, becomes infatuated with donkey-headed Bottom. When Oberon realizes Puck enchanted the wrong lover, he orders a correction. However, Puck now enchants Demetrius as well, causing both men to pursue Helena while Hermia grows furious and jealous. The four lovers quarrel intensely in the forest, with the men threatening to duel over Helena. Titania continues to adore Bottom, and the magical chaos reaches its peak.
Act IV
The Forest:
Oberon finds Titania still enchanted and doting on Bottom. He removes the spell from her, and she awakens confused and embarrassed. Oberon also breaks the love spell on the four young lovers, who wake up bewildered but relieved to find their feelings restored to normal—Hermia with Lysander and Helena with Demetrius. Duke Theseus arrives in the forest with Egeus and discovers the couples. Though Egeus objects, Theseus overrides him and allows both couples to marry alongside his own wedding to Hippolyta. Puck restores Bottom's human head, and the mechanicals prepare to perform their play at the wedding celebration.
Act V
Athens:
The mechanicals perform their comedic play at the wedding celebration. Despite their amateur mistakes, the performance entertains the newlyweds. The three couples—Theseus and Hippolyta, Hermia and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius—celebrate their marriages. Puck delivers a final epilogue, asking the audience for forgiveness and applause as the fairies bless the unions.
